From the moment you walk into the lobby you sense the laid-back, welcoming vibe of MERAMEES hostel Little touches like fresh flowers, books, CDs and casual sofas in the lobby help make it feel like you're dropping by to see friends at home rather than checking into a hotel.
The casual majlis (meeting room) off the lobby where breakfast is served makes a good place to hang out after a hot day's sightseeing.
The rooms themselves have high ceilings, wooden floorboards, large windows and French doors leading onto balconies, and there are shared bathrooms and rooms with own bathrooms and toilets apart from the dorm room. Helpful stuff gives his guests plenty of advice about visiting Cairo and other parts of Egypt . The Meramees is certainly one of the more friendly options around down town.

I stayed at Meramees for 3 nights and the beginning of my trip and came back for another night before I left Egypt. The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful with booking tours, giving directions, providing complimentary tea and the breakfast is terrific! The hostel has a very chill vibe with a beautiful balcony view where you can take meals or drinks. Big SHUKRON to Migo who helped me organize my Luxor trip which I was very indecisive about. You are in good hands and will be very comfortable staying at

I’ve stayed in over 10-15 hostels throughout Egypt & this hostel is by far my favorite. Centrally located in Cairo city centre, only a few minutes walk from Tahir Square, its clean & has the friendliest, nicest staff., especially Migo at reception. As far as Egypt hostels go this is the place to stay.
