Backpackers Balcones River Lodge is located 1.5km from town, surrounded by gardens and nature, right next to the fast flowing river Rio Pastaza. It is a very friendly BB with a relaxed atmosphere and sensational views of the mountains and active volcano (Tungurahua), which provide perfect places to chill out in our hammocks. All of our rooms are brand new and has its own fully equipped kitchen, private bathroom with hot showers, and reliable, good quality wifi. Fresh fruit, drinking water, and access to a fridge are also included! We offer a variety of rooms perfect for singles, couples, groups and families.

We hope you can come and enjoy our beautiful lodge surrounded by nature!

Manuel with Backpackers Balcones was super accommodating. We had a rental car so the location was perfect for us (didn't want late night city noise). We had the apartment with a view of the Pastaza River from the kitchen and loved it. Definitely coming again next time we are in Baños!

Tranquilo hostel, nice kitchen and quiet area. Its a bit of a walk to the next supermarket, also not such a nice walk to the city center because of a lot of traffic. But I prefer this hostel to many hostels in the center, because there you have cars & people making noice until 4am. The only thing hearing here at night is the river and some barking dogs. Only the owner is a bit grumpy and make sure not to pay too much! The owner doesn't care if you paid some money on the website already.

Cheap hostel but the staff was so bad. Not in a rude way but I think there was one employee in the whole place and we had to wake him up most of the time (during all hours of the day) by knocking on the door of reception.
