We understand the Puerto Alto Project as a cultural surreal mountain port in front of the sea.
We are the only place offering paragliding flights between the glaciers of the Sierra Nevada and the Caribbean Sea. many times we have DJs and musicians at the site since we are well connected to Berlin's and Bogota's music scene.
Puerto Alto is a challenging 15 minutes hike from the road. The beach is 20 minutes from the entrance by foot or 3 minutes by moto taxi. 30 min by bus or moto bike to Palomino, 20 min by bus or bike to Tayrona National Park and 1h to Santa Marta. The Puerto Alto ecological trail is quite steep and can be very demanding depending on the amount of luggage and physique. The neighbor at the entrance from the road (red house/shop) offers motorcycle service for people or luggage and most times horseback or mule transport.
The place has the most spectacular view, solar plant light, Wifi, large social area, space for bonfires and endless pool to the Caribbean. The area has a unique natural wealth. There are numerous rivers, waterfalls, and beaches around us. We organize ecological walks with the local neighbors that include: coffee and cocoa tour, view of the snow-capped peaks, rivers, streams and waterfalls of the Sierra.
The project has been ongoing and under construction for the last 5 years and has been inspired by the creators’ involvement and experience in various Berlin industries including the Circus, music festivals and boat collectives. It is a community project of sorts, offering love and support to local Costeño farmers. Puerto Alto currently consists of cabins, dorms, bathrooms, a kitchen, large common areas, a fire pit and an infinity pool suspended over stunningly dramatic views of the Caribbean Coast.
Puerto Alto Hostel Policy and Condition:
Cancellation Policy: 48h before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.

Nice area around the bar, but not a really social hostel. The room was fine, but people walked through our room for the viewpoint. Good food!

Probably my favorite hostel in Colombia. Get the premium private room, it's €30/night but will probably be one of the most memorable places you'll ever stay in. Super laid back place with amazing views. Highly recommend to recover here after some party days. You have been warned though... the 20 mins hike to reach the hostel is not for the faint hearted.

First of all, the view from our “room” was awesome. Unfortunately the bed and the sheets were very dirty and the mosquito net had a lot of holes. Facilities were not that clean and the pool also didn’t look too inviting. The staff was really nice and the food was tasty.
We would still recommend the hostel for one or two nights- but be prepared for an extreme slope when walking up!
