• Hostelworld.com wins Golden Spider for Best Travel Site

  Irish online booking website Hostelworld.com picked up the award for Best Travel, Tourism and Hospitality website at the tenth Annual Eircom Golden Spider Awards in Dublin last night. This is Hostelworld.com's third Golden Spider, with the company picking up awards for Best E-Commerce and Best Overall website in 2002.

  Hailed as the 'Irish Online Oscars', the Golden Spiders recognise outstanding Irish internet businesses. This year saw a record number of entries with awards spread over 16 categories.

  This award comes on the back of the Irish Internet Association (IIA) Net Visionary Award which was presented to Hostelworld.com CEO Ray Nolan at a ceremony in Dublin last week. Speaking at the awards, IIA Chairman Colm Lyon said that the Board of Directors had selected Ray Nolan of Hostelworld.com as the overall Net Visionary for 2006 as he has constantly raised the bar in terms of competing in the global internet market, remained highly innovative in their approach and moved quickly to capture the opportunities.
