Congratulations!!! You?ve just entered the wonderful world of El Misti Hostel. We welcome travelers and other good people to El Misti, Rio de Janiero, where guests enjoy good times and relaxation in a pleasant location near most points of interest in what is known to locals as the `marvelous city?. You never know what?s going to happen here as no two days are alike. People tend to stay at El Misti longer than they?ve planned and there?s no one to blame save for the sheer physical beauty of Rio as well as the atmosphere offered here at our hostel. El Misti is located in the centralized neighborhood of Botafogo, a short walk from beautiful Botafogo Beach as well as the world famous Sugarloaf mountain with it?s sky tram transport and sweeping views of Rio. Botafogo is filled with all that makes up the life of `Cariocas? (or natives of Rio), -- Sidewalk bars, restaurants, elderly men playing cards while kids kick the ever present football through alleys. Here in Botafogo you?ll find a buzz of life coexisting with a mellow local feel. We are to be found in the middle of the metropolitan paradise that is Rio, on a small, enclosed, safe, and quiet side street just 100 meters from the Botafogo subway station. Banks and supermarkets are in quick walking distance and the most famous beaches in the world (Copacabana and Ipanema) are reached by a five minute bus ride. El Misti offers shared dorm beds or private rooms in an affordable, clean, and comfortable atmosphere. There is a kitchen provided for guests as well a professional in-house chef dishing up international specialties each night of the week. Guests are welcome to enjoy dance and drink in our chill out lounge with a DJ spinning up anything from brazilian samba to dancehall reagge while our local barman supplies the tropical spirits. Our mixed local/international staff speaks several languages with fluency and is able to arrange any number of tours and services from rock climbing to hang gliding, portugues classes to capoiera lessons (brazilian martial arts). It is our pleasure to make the traveler feel oriented with Rio by offering innumerable tips for exploring the most beautiful city in the world. When arriving to Rio, whether by bus or plane, we offer free pick up service and bring you straight to our little universe here at El Misti. By far the biggest attraction of the year is of couse fabled Carnaval in Rio, the planet?s biggest, baddest, and wildest annual party. Due to international demand it is extremely difficult to secure accomadation in Rio during Carnaval and thus is highly recommended to make reservations in advance. We offer 7 day Carnaval packages as well as tickets for the world famous samba parades at the local ?Sambadrome`.
